OUR STORY

This is the fascinating story of how a community pulled together to fund and construct a building which has housed the Diamond Harbour Medical Centre for over 30 years.

Responding to an urgent need on 23rd November 1991 a truly astonishing feat was accomplished - the structure of the Diamond Harbour Medical Centre was constructed in just 24 hours with volunteer labour by persons who were all over the age of 60.

What makes this story especially heart warming is that the project was also funded by an average $100 donation from 92% of households approached and a $30,000 loan from the Banks Peninsula District Council.
